Kudos to this kid for trying...however he needs some major work...hopefully he gets it.

What's sad is, people like this actually graduate.

Did any Specs students in here attend college? I'm kind of stuck in a rut here and I need some advice from people who've had basically the same experience as me...anyone?

Hello Everyone!

My name is Erik and I graduated from Specs RTV-11-03 (Radio) and RTV 4-04 (Video)

I am starting up a Podcast that has to do with things going on in my hometown. (Where a trip to 7-11 can be considered a night on the town). I also hope to play some independent music on the show too.

For more info check out the Official Community scsradio The shows will be posted there too!

Also, I am in need of music for the show. If your in a band and you'd like your music played on the show, send me an E-Mail.

So here's this thing. Here's this little life changing decision or whatever the hell you want to call it. So I'm currently a student at this school, Michigan State University, with a strong interest in the field of video/audio production, and on a path to earning that notable telecommunications degree. But the thing is, I'm wanting to produce, yet I'm sitting here learning how to add letters, and who Che Guavera is and how to mix chemicals...what the fuck for, right? So I heard about Specs. And I just wanted to hear it from you guys. How good was this place for you? I can tell you right now, in my 2 years of a higher education I've produced only a "short film" for lack of a better term, and an audio psa...did I mention the cameras we are working with are mini DVs? They say..."oh your senior year is when you'll 'get into it' when you start working with the 'big dog' equiptment." And my take on the whole thing is, if you got it, then why the hell aren't we using it now? So, a little advice. Should I just drop this college thing and take it to Specs? Is the job market more promising? More experience? The learning environment? Just any kind of casual person-to-person feedback about the place would be nice.

Not to mention, it seems that over here at MSU, the telecommunications department is the most shit on in the school. They don't care what happens to you after you graduate...they got your money, it's done. Have a nice life.

hello all. i'm in RTV-2-05. going into our second quarter. my class is so far nuts but full of some incredible people. big ron has been our mentor so far most other instructors seem to hate our class which sucks for those who actually care and want to be there. ah well, i'm doing both radio/television. so far i'd like to be a producer or on-air and am totally looking forward to moving out into the boonies to learn after i graduate the course. how bout ya'll? anyone know an eric lund?

So...which instructor do/did you feel/felt was your greatest challenge while attending Specs?

Me personally, I would have to say Tony Sherock's News Writing class in the 3rd quarter. Oh boy, was I sweating during Finals and my last news package? Hell yeah. I'm a good student, but I almost cracked and lost it during that quarter because while I was good at getting the b-roll and stuff, but when it came to writing certain sound bites and stuff...I kind of choked. But...by coming in early everyday and practicing...I passed and then I just breezed on through the 4th quarter (which was fun as hell) and graduated last July :)

But yeah...share your stories folks.

I can't believe it's been almost a year since...

Time sure does fly...of course, I'm not on any of the pics I've taken, but still...just having these saved on my computer sort of brings me back to when I was @ Specs with my RTV-11-03 peeps. If I could do it all again...I would, but under 1 condition...I must have the same classmates, from 1st quarter through the very end...again.
